No I wont be selling this one anytime soon. I think it is one of the more spectacular errors to find in circulation and don't want to sell it only to regret it in down the track. Been there done that and I wont let it happen again.

Out of interest what do you estimate the value as? I like to write a rough range down on my spreadsheet. I was thinking $60-80?

Rarely seen,so no idea but I reckon if I owned it I would'nt take under a $100 for it,there is a mistrike $2 on ebay at the moment, the last time I looked it was $345 odd.

$335 sorry http://www.ebay.com/itm/ERROR-TWO-D...em1c2ab7c60d

Great find Enworb. I always check the rims on any slightly off center strike coins and have a few 5 cent and 10 cent partial collars. Haven't really been looking at 2 dollars coins but your nice find has inspired me.
Well done

So,
Why not post the "photos for ebay and they turned out really well" here? Or, were they for something completely different?

Get the edge of the coin in the centre of the shot (or check out focus option settings for your camera -single, multiple, area etc.); that can make a big difference. And, select highest macro setting (make sure you have good light).

I put 26 items on ebay yesterday none of which was this coin. The photos for all of them worked perfectly but today when I got the camera out I couldn't get a good shot. I was merely pointing out how sometimes things seem to go your way and sometimes they dont. I will be taking ozcoins advice when I get home and taking some shots from slightly further away.

Here is a few pics of mine,i'd prefer yours though ,only a slight error but still at least it is an example of this error in the $2.

Apologies for the old and rubbish images but I bought this one in 2008 for the princely sum of $10.14 :)

The $2 denomination is thought to be the rarer of all denominations to find errors. That being said there have been lots of double strikes sold in the past couple of years.
This got a hefty sum.

These have sold anywhere from $300-$2,000
