Is this a case where the counterfeit is worth more than the real thing? Thanks for sharing!

That's actually very cool and would definantly be worth more than one dollar to the right collectors.

Aye, since they're rather rare in circulation in the States (there are more bogus $1 bills per unit than coins; scary thought), this one is worth anywhere from $5-15. Down in South America I'm not sure what the statistics are, though.

I've seen them bring as much as $50 on ebay but that was awhile back.

Very good find!

How many fakes do you have in your collection?

I don't know how you would legally sale one of them on ebay especially since they passed the new law about no fakes being sold

My counterfeit collection is currently in the hundreds of pieces, but I only have one other fake Sacagawea. I think I'm hanging on to this one. :-)

Nice find ...

I'm going to Guatemala in October ... suppose I should keep an eye out for fake USA dollars.

To unforgivably misquote the Rabbi from Fiddler on the Roof: "There is a counterfeit for everything!"

It was quite lucrative for the South American cartels that did the counterfeits, too as they went for scale. ~1-2 million pieces between Ecuador and Colombia.
