Well Colu, I for one thank you! Regardless of what the jersey boys say, it was the best laugh I've had all day. If I had the time and interest, I'd follow those listings just to see if they do finally sell.

Well I suppose I wont express how I feel about things like this anymore.
I just can't stand seeing people try to take advantage of others who may not know better.... my .02 cents
My vent is done.

Well colu I for one appreciate the heads up. From the way the seller responded to your concerns tells me to avoid this seller. Most reputable sellers IMO would have responded more professionally.

colu, a person asking too much for a legit coin is really their business. They will sell it or not and thats all on them. I guarantee if you sent me a message telling me one of the items in my store was over priced I would certainly tell you where you could insert that opinion. The price police thing isn't cool. This is a persons livelyhood and so long as they are not cheating folks, it really is their business alone.
Now, coming here and posting a link and asking does everyone think the price is out of line or asking if those pics are as useless to everyone else as they are to me...no biggy. Or if there were reason to believe the person was trying to pass off a fake, then there is an issue.
Let the good old free market do what it does.

Well Smoker, you need to not sell coins then. If you are selling something that by all accords is a luxury item, not a necessity, and used at that, you have to expect folks to tell you your prices are too high from time to time. It is one way people open up dialog for negotiating a better price. Heck even Walmart offers price matching if their price is higher than other places. As a seller, the buyer has ultimate control. That is unless you are willing to sit on over priced items. If it offends you so much to be told your prices are too high there is a very simple solution...LOWER YOUR PRICES!

Colu, don't worry about it! You were absolutely within your rights to surface an opinion. This seller put two horrible pictures of a potentially rare coin on ebay. You called him on it because the pictures are horrible, and nothing on the 2x2 says anything about it other than "plain"! The sellers that are upset are way off base. They should at least acknowledge that the guy should have described it better. There is no way anyone could make an informed decision on those two photos. Those guys are profiling! Keep bringing these things up.

Comparing a best price policy of a large corporation to telling me my prices are too high is totally apples and oranges. Especially when I am being told that simply in a drive by fashion, NOT because the person is actually interested in my item and negotiating. There is a HUGE difference there. I have absolutely no problem at all with a reasonable offer: Hey, you are asking 650 for that 1859O Seated Liberty, I will give you 520... Well Mr h82w8, I appreciate the offer but I wont go under 620.... See, THAT is negotiation and perfectly fine. Now for what the OP did: You are selling your 1859O Seated Liberty for way too much money and you will never sell it that way. Well Mr Colu, you can shove it...you get the idea.
Not sure how someone can not see the difference there. Trying to buy something and dealing on the price and being the price police are completely different. The simple solution is for folks like the OP to mind their own business if they arent going to be buying. And if your opening line to negotiations is your prices are too high, then you need to work on your bartering skills.

To be a seller, you have to have thicker skin than that. You are selling collectibles, not gasoline.

I think some ebay sellers put ridiculous prices on items and figure if they keep relisting, eventually the item will sell. Must be that they don't pay a lot for the items because it would be much better to not tie up that much money on inventory. I also share the frustration of other members about lousy pictures. They still make staple pullers, don't they? Coins never photograph well in flips.

One of the problems that plauge coin collectors. The dealers or sellers that care only about how much profit they can screw a guy out of. I do the dame thing if something is way over priced I send the seller an e-mail and tell if they want to sell there coins they should price them closer to what they are worth. I have told many sellers this and had quite a few thank me and lower the price. The hobby needs more people like you to speak up. Many new to the hobby get burnt a couple times and just walk away from this great hobby. All thanks to a part time coin flipper trying to get way over book for there coins. You did good IMHO Kepp up the good work.

There are lots of sellers selling way over priced items. It happens all of the time. Best to avoid them. Quote: The price police thing isn't cool. This is a persons livelyhood and so long as they are not cheating folks, it really is their business alone. And isn't it considered cheating folks, if you sell things that are way over priced?
