I really like the 1918 FRN $1.00 notes. I have been thinking of putting a set of them together. Can I ask what range (dollars) you paid for them.
I know where I can get a New York .. around $50.00 .. but not as nice of notes as yours.

Here is the description from the auction. "Super nice nearly sequential CU trio of 1918 Series $1 Large Size National Currency Notes from the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, Virginia (E-5)." Venture a guess first, including auction fees and S&H. That way if I paid too much I can gracefully lie about the price.

Selling at a show to a dealer is part of the game.
But I would hesitate to sell to a non-dealer.
If a given dealer is not interested, you might say,
"Can you recommend someone who might be interested?"
Standard rules of etiquette apply, with additions:
Do not try to sell notes to a dealer to does not sell notes.
Do not try to sell US bullion to a dealer who has a table full of ancients.
See what I mean? Within the market there are many little markets.
You will do fine!
AND, if you find a note that you like, you can always attempt a trade plus cash.
In my experience, dealers like that. Or at least are open to hearing you out.

At worst, we say, "Yours is a common question and these are our best answers."
ASK AWAY!

Any recommendations as to what kind of container or case I should carry my bills in? I will have 5 to 10 with me and maybe a little extra silver in airtites.

I have seen some nice looking notes like this go for $120 to $150 .. online |

If these CU bills sell for $150 I will be sad.  I was looking at a population report last night and was satisfied with the prices I was seeing. Edited by starbuxinvestor

I plan to keep one of each and will get those graded plus anything I don't sell at the show next month will also be off for grading.

I was at a show recently 125 tables plus. I tell ya what, the 10 guys at one end dealing in mostly bills were hoping. I found the dealers close to the entrance to be all over asking what you brought to sell, so dont sell yourself short early on, never know who is deeper in the show.

I am going to The ANA's Fall National Money Show in Dallas. Suppose to be more than 500 dealers there. |

No, I paid plenty over $50 each for the notes. Maybe I overpaid judging by what people think I would have paid. Live and learn.

Back to the original question ...
Dealers always come to shows hoping to buy material for their inventory. As a general statement most of the buying comes from other dealers at wholesale prices.
The collecting public is welcome to sell to dealers at shows ... you should expect to be offered "10 Back of Bid" for any quality materials you may have ... that is 10% below wholesale price.
Wholesale prices are found in many sources ... I'm not sure for bills such as yours ... but for coins nearly all dealers I know use the CDN Greysheet.
Look up the "Bid" price ... subtract 10% ... that is what you should expect at a minimum for selling at shows.
That fact usually comes as a shock to most newer collectors ... but it is a fact and the way the coin show dealers purchase from the public.
They are there to make money after all ...
