This thread asked about your Prettiest Gold Coin, and I have already posted that. Since mds308 wanted more coins, here is my favorite gold coin. 1847-D $5 Gold. My only gold coin from the Dalonega, Georgia Branch Mint.

Sadly, I have no gold coins. However, I have enjoyed looking at everyone else's gold coins.

If it's made of gold, it's pretty.

Seeing all this gold makes me wish I would have started collecting years ago. I have numerous silver coins but there is something special about the look of a gold coin.

I also posted my favorite but since it seems OK to serve up seconds, here's one of my "pretties".

I have only two gold coins. Not unique or exotic at all, but I love 'em One is a Mexico Dos Pesos, but I think this one is a little more photogenic:

I really DO like the designs for the 1/4 and 1/2 Eagle, by Bela Lyon Pratt. They are well balanced and innovative, but you do need these coins to be problem free to really appreciate them, and they ARE sensitive to acquiring problems.
Pity the U.S. Mint never produced this design for the $10 Eagle, they would have looked even more handsome in the larger size and weight.
I prefer this design in the Half Eagle to the St. Gaudens $10 Eagle, where the Indian head dress design is a little too off centre to the left.
