@Solidifier:
What exactly goes for 50% off, the Snowflake only or both of them: The set and snowflake?
Not really clear from the post...
If it for you - sure to buy. For resell - do not think, that someone will be interested in them.
Added: Sorry, my mistake. first time I read "1812-2012 Silver Set", while you speak about Silver Dollar only.

I will take the crystal snow flake. It is not worth at issue. But 50% off is a deal. You also can display it in your winter and holiday theme collection this X-mas.

50% is pretty nice on both, I'd be stuck. THe cheapest I've seen the snow flakes go for was $90.00. At 50% I'd be tempted. cheers

I'm new to post office hunting and based on my beginners luck I'm kind of hooked. I'm going touring around over the next couple of days to see what's avilable in the rural post offices. I'd be grateful for any advice on what to look for. I'm aware of the following so far: Baby sets and wedding sets from 2007 and 2008, silver is best. And any large bird quarters pre 2010. Any other suggestions? Beiing out here in New Brunswick I'm pretty sure I will not be hunting in anyones back yard. thanks Liverpool

@Liverpool:
When you will buy this stuff, will you be happy, that you are the owner of the items, that no one wanted them? Or do you like them, so you will kepe'em in the collection?
The nice thing, is probably to resell them, yeah, good surprise, but they will not make the seller reacher.
Anyway, I wish you good luck in your hunt, I believe that the effort should be appreciated!

Thanks for the thoughts Silveroid. Update: I've been to every post office outlet in the city and it looks like my luck has run out. I'll let you know if I find anything in the future. cheers Liverpool

No, Liverpool, this is no "luck ran out"
It just you wanted to find specific items, that very hard to find, while previously you hunted just for "something" You can try other region, or just wait, some current items might be on sale in the future.

I got a 2008 Silver Baby Loonie at the P/O today @ 50% off!! So lucky!! Shoppers Drug Marts are hidden gems. The odd thing is I snoop post offices ALL THE TIME all over the Toronto area and never find anything. The ironic thing is I found it at the post office closest to my home that I never bothered asking if they had stock. They said they brought out all their old stock last month and cleared it out to a single person :'(

Quote: I got a 2008 Silver Baby Loonie at the P/O today @ 50% off!! So lucky!! Wha-a-at? I searched where to buy it for issue, and since it "surrounded by rare 2007 Baby and 2008 wedding" siblings, everywhere the price is raised... Great find, congratulations! So that's where all 2007 Baby sets sitting

I was interested to learn that Canada Post sells Royal Canadian Mint coins, so I have been on the lookout. I have checked one Post Office and two postal outlets at Shopper's Drug Mart stores. I have seen very small selections in the display cases and prices the same as you can buy from the mint. I have found no deals and actually, coins for which the RCM offers free shipping are priced about $5 dollars higher. I guess the only "deal" would be saving the shipping on coins that you would pay shipping for from RCM. These are my findings from only 3 locations...results may vary. Can anyone tell me if most Canada Post locations usually have larger inventories that are not on display and you have to ask for them?

They vary from store to store but you can request coins be sent to any location for pick up and don't pay shipping

The most current PO hunt it is for some rare UNESCO booklet and souvenir sheet stamps. It happens Canada wide - people search for them and if available - buy as many as possible. So, in this case, usually the buyer doesn't collect stamps, but they highly re-sellable. If I remember correctly, the price is $10-$15, but the goes on ebay for $35-$50. check the other forum - according to volumes of the items purchased - hundreds if not thousands of $$$ profit. Do not think, that any coin hunt now-days will give the same. This is the example of the item: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/ERROR-Canada...em20feda41c3or http://www.ebay.ca/itm/CANADA-2015-...em4aed16a7e3
