What about a tissue test on a 40% silver coin, how does it compare to a 90% silver coin?

The tissue test would work just fine since the outer cladding is 80% silver. Add me to the crowd that sees absolutely nothing wrong with this Ike

Of course it's silver plated... therefore a tissue test will not prove whether the coins are genuine or not. But I will have photos trying it out when I get home from school.

If this is a fake Ike, that's the best fake I have seen in a long time silverdollar2011, most fakes I encounter doesn't have a grain of silver in them.

But, a 40% silver Ike is worth almost $11 today melt price, so I can't rule out counterfeiters not wanting to make some real cash out of it.

with the general consensus on the Ike--I don't see anything tangible but a genuine dollar here.
Imo, the die tooling and technology it would take to fake an Ike that well just wouldn't be cost-effective.

Also, just buy from PROV OR APMEX for the love of pmz verses shady ebay dealers out of Asia, and you will never have to worry about fake items ever again....

Sure you may find a deal, but here is a couple of sayings for you....

A bird in the hand is better then two in the bush....AND If something looks to good to be true BY ALL MEANS it most likely is, say 99 percent of the time....

I'll buy it. I absolutely do not think it is fake. I just can't really see faking a $10 coin esp with that type of quality. No offense but seeing your pat posts I think you maybe a wi bit paranoid, just my opinion.

well said silverhawk, bro, I always buy from reputable merchants but have received this only as a gift in addition to my order. but anyways, 40% silver sucks and it doesn't even deserve a post by me ROFL.
The Chinese will counterfeit anything these days man, but its really not surprising either.
One case where i'd be actually ticked if I start finding these in boxes of half dollars lol from coin roll hunting, now those fake eyegasms would really suck...
anyways, I need to get my hands on some 40%, I really miss seeing them :D

I have to also say that 40 percent gets past over often, and many below melt deals can be found on it.....

On the buying side that is a good thing, on the selling side, not so good....

The only small silver content pieces I would ever consider buying in bulk is wartime nickels, and correct me if I am wrong 42-45 and they are 35% at .295 silver content....

You got cool wartime history tide up in those pieces, many of which circulated through soldiers pockets on the war front, imagine if the coin's could talk the stories they could tell....

I'll take it for $10. Send me a PM with your PayPal address and I'll send the money.

This is a curiosity really. The coin looks and weighs out completely normal but I'll check it out..

Ill do everyone better!

Silverdollar send me the coin I have a dealer who does xray analysis. He will know the exact metals in the coin and if it is in fact a fake (chances are its not). Ill cover your shipping costs, the dealers cost and shipping back to you. But if in fact it is real no more posts dealing about fake bullion thats all I ask. If its fake post away about fakes you purchased
