It would be nice to see the supply vs demand curve back to those that really want them, without the artificial demand created by flippers. There were issues that I was disappointed not to be able to purchase at the mint.
Before this flipping thing started, the value of the coins was based on actual quantity sent out to the public. If the issue was for 20,000 and they only sold 6000, then there wasn't some hoarder sitting on 14,000 coins in a warehouse.

@RogerD I originally got the 2-loons to flip but have grown to like it especially after handling it in hand. It still is a really impressive coin to me. Will be keeping one for my boy and one for my folks at the very least

This coin is really nice. It's unfortunate that RCM has managed to muffle the buzz with delay after delay and poor QA.

Quote: ...I just doubt the value of the coin will persist. Surprise - surprise.... you can say this for just about any modern mint product... the only NCLT coins now with real value, are the ones nobody wanted (e.g., 2007 silver loon from the wedding proof set), or the gold coins bought at issue price back in 2000-2001, when gold was $250 an ounce.

I have to admit that this is one of the best coins the Mint produced this year.

@Poboxw, maybe it's my eyes or the picture quality, but the coin in the second picture looks flawed. Some of the outer tips of the white diamonds encircling the loons do not look pointy. However, the coin in the third picture looks alright. It's a shame how the Mint did not catch the flaws during production. These coins would have fetched much higher premiums in the secondary markets imo.

@Mrpiedfort: All the pictures are of the same coin. The less pointy diamonds on the second pic is likely from the angling of the camera against the (even) bevel of the enameling around the edge of the coin. The beveling actually gives the coin added laying and impact.

@Poboxw, good to hear it's not a flaw. I ordered another one anyways.

The triangles on the edge re not perfect on all coins ... Getting a perfect one and grading it would surely bring its price up :P

after reading the "Triangles matching" issue, I just check back my 2 coins. Luckily, they are perfect match.

@Poboxw: you sure all 3 pics are the same coin? The blue reflection loon on the left looks like its missing some color on the wing in the first two pics.

Sorry poboxw - not picking on your coin but is there paint missing where I indicate in green (lower right bird)? Looks like some white showing on the black head and some blue on the wing where it should be black? I'm going to have to dig mine out and give them a closer look.

Thanks for pointing out the paint chipping issue. I dug out my coins to take a second look and I noticed some paint chipping on some of them. Disappointing...since it's such a beautiful coin aside from that.

Ug. I have over 40 of these coins and at least 7 of them have noticeable chipping issues.
