I remember reading something about the Remi People (Celts of South Gaul) whom attribute their society to to Remus whom Romulus is said to have killed. In fact he didn't and Remus escaped to found this tribe of people. I have also heard of Romulus and Remus being attributed to Pollux and Castor, but again I don't know how much validity their is behind...well any of it.

Maybe they're fighting already over the same teat. Foretelling their fates.

That's a real nice coin.

Fascinating, A-noob ... yes, I also remember reading something about Remus and Romulus having quite a large family and I think I even remember something about twin sisters, Candy and Brandy? (maybe this is one of their coins?)

Well, I was referring to what appears to be heavy breasts on both the twins. Hmmmmm

Looking at others, I see Siscia tends to have fatter bellies on the babies in some examples but what you really see is that there was a lot of variation in the cutting of the boys. I suspect they were working fast.

With Ancientnoob--they're simplified; I'd say those are round bellies--but I've been wrong before.
That's a fantastic coin! It almost appears to have mint luster.

Thanks DVC, it is a nice looking coin.

I know the legend of Romulus and Remis. They are baby boys; however, this particular coin makes them look like well endowed females. I have put the reverse of another of mine from the same mint and workshop where the "bellies" are not so pronounced side by side with this newer coin.

Gotta love it- go GAMMA SIS !
I think the engraving is as it should be, the belly's seem to be similar to the belly of a starving child, where the abdominal walls actually protrude beyond the waistline.

A Siscia example of my own where the twins seem to be wearing croissants on their heads.... both quite rotund and reaching for the same teat.
