I look at any change for a rare of valuable one but other than that, all change goes into a large can which just goes to a bank every Month or so.

I keep a Crown Royal bag & look through pocket change @ night for '82's & previous. Not much effort & bag over 1/2 full - maybe put on ebay by weight.

I always keep every copper I find. It only takes me ten seconds to look through my change before I go to bed.

Unless you're amassing thousands of coppers a month, they really don't take up that much space. Buy a $10 cool glass jar from a flea market or Target and save 'em.

Actually I purchase boxes of pennies to look through. I look through them at the end of the day while I'm watching tv. It also serves me well on the evenings I can't sleep and don't feel like reading. Some may call it chasing wisps but for me I like to look through the coins.

Me too. I do about a box every other week. My rate is about 17% so that's 500 cents a month. Still on my first big glass jar after a couple years of CRH.

I have a separate bag I put 59-82s in, waiting on my scale to figure out which zincs to pull out, to be truthful I don't know why I keep them.

Finding other uses Like Unholyroller does making washers. I find using them in flower pots to deter slugs is a good use and still have the coins. How many other uses can there be? We used to put them on car batteries when older batteries leaked.

New member of the forum here -- does anyone have any information on the value of the "lightweight" pennies that were first out of the mint, I mean the ones struck in November and December 1981 ? ?
I use a yardstick out over the edge of the kitchen counter as a "balance beam" and an older copper cent and a newer one as "check weights" . . .
My grandson helps me look, and I give him .20 each for the 1981 "lightweights" he finds -- the little rascal must think Grandpa is in his dotage, for he will try and sneak in standard 1981's, but I weigh them all to make sure they are the light ones . . .

Hello, new member here, I used to go through penny boxes for wheat cents and now I just got back into roll searching and have been pulling the copper from 1981 and older as well as finding wheaties and dimes.

I cull the copper cents from circulation as I get them in change. I don't roll search for them. When I have ten dollars worth I'll sell them for $0.60 a roll which is 1.2 cents each. Ed ANA LM-3175
