Just because they look fun I'm going to pick these up.
They are official coins of Federal Republic of Somalia.

Mine would be the 100 mon coin from Japan. Unusual I guess.

India is always a good source for coins with uncommon shapes, espescially the Princely States, here's only one example:

or british India, with a huge hole:

This large coin (47 X 27 mm) seems to have really circulaed in Tonga, at least it shows clear signs:

Here is my most unusual coin (actually my wife's since all world coins go to her) got this in Korea around 1964-5. It is a 1 Bu from Japan, about 1850's to 1870's, silver

Hmmmm...just discovered my link in posting above won't open..will try to repost tonight.

Also: why do some images open automatically and others just show a link to the image? Is there a trick to that?

BasicBob101, When you post pictures, select this What-Are-The-Most-Unique-Shaped-Coins-That-You-Ownfrom the menu. Then right click on your image, then select properties, now copy and paste the URL between those img markers. You can then post the picture directly into your post.

Good luck

As to why your link doesn't work, it's probably the forum software objecting to the apostrophe and/or the plus sign. Non-alphanumeric symbols seem to confuse the poor thing, particularly if two or more are used in the same filename.

Click on the link, and when the "oops' screen appears, go to the URL at the top of the web browser page. Change the last "%20" to a +, and change the "%20" between "1850" and "s" to a ', and your rectangular bu appears.
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis

renamed the file and replaced it opens now. Will have to experiment with the procedure described above by Triggersmob and learn how to work that system. Found that little mark but couldn't locate properties on my pic, tried all locations both left and right click with no results.

OK, tried it again and all I get is this box with a red X in it.

HA! Got it done! As you can see by the image of the rectangular Japanese coin a few posts above, kept fiddling with it until I figured out what I was doing wrong, practiced on the WWII notes I have posted on the international note thread. Also read the tutorial and with that and the suggestions made on this thread have learned something new. I am excited, and in the process of doing this went hit my 50th post!! A double serendipity! Thanxz again for the help.
