Thats true muddler. I just feel like I messed up and wasted money. I do not have a ton of money anyway as a college student. I use coin collection as a sort of investment, and fun while attending college. It is an awesome hobby to tell you the truth..

I may start to venture into ebay a bit once I start to understand the coin a bit more. I am coming to walking liberties from collection lincoln wheats, which are also a fairly high value coin set. There are many in that set that are CRAZY numbers. Stuff that I can not afford for a long time. I am just hoping that I am able to truly finish a somewhat valuable coin set for once. Maybe one day..ha

Casuth even if you do think that first coin is cleaned, if you use it as a pocket piece for a little bit you can unclean once the top layer wears off. Itll lower the grade but improve the value of it by removing the cleaned status so it may be worth it to hold onto your first one.

The key to ebay if you arent going to stick to slabbed coins (which you could break out if you wanted) if just finding trusted dealers. If you ask around theres a lot of members that have ebay dealers they would recommend from past experiences to help weed through the trash that gets posted

Ya for sure, I'm guessing that there are quite a few people on here that are probably selling as well. So as Basebal21 said, does anyone know of reputable dealers on ebay that I could buy from?

Guys keep all the suggestions coming; anywhere from past experiences of just general advice. I am here to learn, take notes, and eventually help teach this set of coins. I am very motivated and teachable! Loving all the advice and tips..its helps more than you know!

I might even sell my 1931 S MD 63 RED Lincoln Wheat to help kick start this Walking liberty set.

Another quick question, what do you guys recommend that I store / display them in? I typically go with a dansco album, but are there any other ideas floating out there?

Try going junk bin diving and see what you can find. I've found quite a few of my WLH's in my set in junk bins

Just looked at the pictures of that half, for $27 I think you did OK. It's hard to tell from the pictures what condition that is, but you can see luster on there, which pretty much rules out polishing. Once in awhile, you really look out getting a raw coin. I bought a nice MS 1943 Walker for $30 at a Denver coin shop some time back, thought it looked really nice and sent it to PCGS. I expected a 65 grade on it, but it came back a MS-66.

I think the best education is just looking at lots of coins, slabbed and raw, until you get a 'feel' for the series. After some time, you'll be able to spot the problem coins and avoid them.

If you do not already have a Dansco album, I would be pleased to send you mine for the cost of postage.

Are you getting motivated yet?
