Give them to a new collector, a young fellow just starting out. I had a folder with Canada small cents I passed on to a young girl 9 years old the other day.

I have asked the CCF moderators to provide an address for donations. If we do not encourage the young generation, who will buy our coins in our old age?
The next, big give-away will be in Orlando, Florida this upcoming January.

Thanks for the heads up matthew and Nevalite. We can absolutely use these coins at the upcoming FUN show in Orlando. I'll let Dad and Mom know :)

I say, why not instill the awe of older coins to the youngsters? To us, they may mean little, but to a kid, a coin which is even only 60 years old is ANCIENT! (Much like grandpa and grandma!)
Thanks, vermontensium, I have nothing to give but I can encourage others to so do.

Vermontensium... I picked up a few 1985 Canada fifty cents from the bank not long ago, would CCF be interested in taking them? The bank saves all the nickel stuff for me..

Have you checked them all for doubled date varieties (Zoell varieties)? The 1-cent coins from the 1940s and 1950s are perfect for hunting for those....

Quote: Is some American kid going to care about Canadian coins? What kid wouldn't? I absolutely *hoarded* Canadian coins as a kid. Any I could get my hands on went straight to my little metal bank, where I would take them out occasionally and boggle at the pretty designs. (I didn't know anything about keeping them nice back then. Any youngsters who get coins from CCF will probably be that much more ahead since they'll be in 2x2's!)

SPP I did search them for varieties, I didn't find any double dates but I found a lot of hanging varieties.

You can always keep a good handfull from each year until you have the proper amount of posts. There are many collectors here that may need some years here and there like jake and myself. You could trade off for something else and then donate the rest. These coins can help create your own sets and collections.
