1. Just go to Canada and spend like real money. They will never notice.
2. Take to Mexico and spend there. If asked just say this is the latest commemorative coins we make.
3. Post on ebay as rare, foreign coins from unknown place. And don't forget to say
A. I know nothing about coins
B. Left to me by my (Mother, Father, Aunt, Uncle)
cross out all that does not apply
4. Post on ebay and say UNSEARCHED.
5. Send to me. I'll take them to a flea market and sell as odd and wierd old US coins made with strange name on them.
6. Go to World Coin Forum right here and tell the same story. Mention my name. This will not help at all but could make you feel important.
7. Get rolls of coins from banks, open all, rewrap adding a few of those Canadian ones per roll. Take back to bank.

I like them all but I'd go with #7 as probably the safest bet.

I'm officially dropping my self-nomination and suggesting Bobby. When I was a kid, Canadian coins fascinated me because of the superficial similarities to US coins (size and shape--when I was very small most Canadians were not made of steel yet and the weight wasn't a dead giveaway), but the even more noticeable differences--there was a WOMAN on their coins! And the pennies had funny edges like a stop sign instead of a circle! Who knew?

I vote that this is the way to go.

how precisely do you say your name? I keep reading it like a new McDonald's sandwich and I'm betting it's totally an abbreviation for something

No there is no abbreviation it is McShilling, but after the fact it does have my first name and my wife's first name in the first 2 letters and shilling because we are from England, but was not chose because of that.

I know that there is a foreign currency exchange here on Lond Island that takes CAD 1 & 2 coins, as well as EUR 1 & 2 coins and exchanges them for no fee.

As for the rest, I was wondering myself. I thought of just putting the lot on ebay and selling them for 50-60% of face. I get most of mine from the magnets at the coin machine in my bank, so they are free.

Any other serious thoughts would be appreciated.

Could also sell them on ebay. I have seen multiple sellers with Canada coin lots. Don't forget that in different parts of the world there are others looking for our countries as well.

You stated your banks will not take them. How many banks did you try. Some banks have currency exchanges in them but usually the larger banks. And I've always wondered about those places called CURRENCY EXCHANGES. Do they really exchange currency? You've presented a good question. Where do people go when planning on traveling to other countries for getting the other countries money?

Carl, when I have travelled to Canada (From Michigan) there are always currency exchanges near the border towns. I have found that you can even find different rates depending on the bank. For example, the exchange inside of a Canadian Casino actually gave us the best rates. Just a little FYI

I deemed it junk silver so I cleaned the bejesus out of it. Never store your coins in an old Planters Peanuts tin. Well it was a new can in the seventies lol. I've been going through my old Navy coins that I picked up on my travels. I have a killer 1957 (58) Spain 50 Ptas.
