More like trying to remove the chocolate spot. Couldn't resist and just had to crack 'em. Unfortunate edge damage during the de-slab process, so, what the heck, I melted them down.

mds308, yep, I know that gum. I was once New York city born and raised. My wife will know the name of that gum. Oh, wasn't the flavor the best...?

blackjack,
I don't remember it being the best, I remember it being very different and not all that lasting in flavor. Kind of like Zebra Striped Gum. The flavor was gone after your first swallow. It was good though.
Memories.....

You're right, same as the flavor in the baseball-card gum. (Back when I flipped when I should have held on....)

mds308, somehow I'll get the name of the gum. For now, "gelt" is the name of the chocolate coins given at at Chanukah in Jewish homes.

For a real trip down memory lane go to Amazon and look for a candy company selling the old-fashioned stuff from each decade. I think they go back to the 1940's. I've had that in my cart more than once -- but I chicken out because I hate having the sticky stuff pull my fillings out. Once you get the name of that gum, check out The Vermont Country Store. If they don't have it (and I don't think they do) they might just track it down and get it. I still have Halloween candy......

blackjack, Did you notice how much I paid for those coins? Nothing to break the bank. In fact, I think those were the first coins I ever bought from ebay. My knowledge is not good enough to snag a deal from ebay. I do better from the local dealer and antique shops plus the stuff that comes to me.

mds308, No, I missed the price. I'm not ready for ebay yet. My dealer is walking me through this. Buddy, I try to keep my fillings, too.
