this is the one I found not long ago in change, the funny thing is I don't search through my change at all and these two just caught my eye as I was dropping the coins into the bucket

...doesn't look to have been in circulation very long at all

The great majority of 1964 Dimes were quickly removed from circulation.

I have a full roll (and then some!) of AU/BU 1964-D Dimes that I've saved from circulation in the past thirty years, and their condition testifies that their periods of re-circulation were very brief.

I just evaluated a collection for a friend of my wife and she had 30-40 rolls of circulated silver dimes. I asked about how she came by them and her father was running a laundromat when clad coinage came out and so he saved all the silver that came in. She had $600 in face value in sliver coin. Silver coinage was being bought for about X12 face at the time and I advised her to sell since it was so high. She declined, saying she was saving it for the grandkids and as far as I know it's still in a couple of shoeboxes in the closet.

I carefully check all change that comes into my possession, but it's always my wife who finds the occasional wheatie or even, once, a silver dime in her change. Ha ha!

Bryan1315,

I don't think that's above the legal limit. You'll have to throw it back.

Cool find! We rummaged through our change a couple months back and found a couple pre-65 silver, but that dime is da bomb!

When you do, let me know where you spent it.
