I sure hope mds308 doesn't find a Henning Nickel...

The Cent's SGS slab would read "MS62RB Strike-Through Mint Error"

Thanks to everyone for your responses. I enjoyed the comments. I read the posts to learn, educate myself and have some fun. I'd expect you to enjoy yourselves and have a little fun too. Now go and destroy some altered coins. You'll thank me later.

YES! Good for you! Anytime a collector finds a fake it should be destroyed so it can ruin the hobby no more.

MDS took it out so hard, Lincoln felt it in the afterlife. Ouch.

A very just end to a creep that tried to pass itself off as an upstanding 14-D.

There's no walking away from that!
I found the original thread--an altered worthless 44-D--good riddance I say!

this was better than the twilight movies - just put a stake in it - no undead coins coming to life now!

Although I think it is good to permanently mark such coins, it is still well worth keeping them in a separate collection of fake(d) coins.
Such a collection can be a useful reference to help build skill in identifying such impostors.
I have a reasonably extensive collection of fake ancient coins, built up for my own education.
