Sorry I'm late to the Thread. Liberty Head Nickels are another favorite of mine. I agree with PCGS on the grade, I felt it was a 53 as soon as I saw it. Way too much detail for an XF grade, not enough pop for a higher grade.
Very interesting die crack... Even after 17 years of striking 5 Cent Nickels, they were still encountering problems. Maybe we still encounter the same problems today, but just change the dies more often !?
