ValiantKnight: What you have shown, for me, is a very significant coin. I have been looking for some years for post Roman coins of Europe, and that piece would sit very nicely in my collection.

Coins of the Dark Ages of Western Europe are always difficult to obtain.
With such coins, you are really competing against the museums, and consideration should be given to bequesting them to a museum when you die.

Glad you all like it!

Would you care to share what you paid for it?
Shelled out $220 for it, so I'm basically not going to be able to buy anything for a while But like I said, it was worth it

No, from somewhere else. But if he sells Germanic coinage, then I wouldn't mind taking a look at his inventory (when my coffers replenish of course )

Yup this coin is definitely in the top five of my collection (when I finally have it in hand)

Great work Jango, loving the coin and the post. Have one of these , one of these , and one of these

These later coins are well worth 'reading-up' on.

I agree, the coins and the era itself are fascinating

Update: just received the coin in the mail and aside from it being a little darker in hand it's exactly as shown in the pics, in all of its Dark Ages glory It's now my most valuable coin and probably my rarest as well. An all-around great coin in hand
