A dozen coins! Holy cow Steve ugh Bing...sorry force of habit. This coin has some very interesting patina on it. The surfaces are also interesting. How would you date this coin? I noticed you have a lot of specs on it but neglected to share with us the the date.
YN- I agree with Bing, each coin is ancient and a relic all into itself deserving of its own thread.

When I tried to date this coin, I could only narrow it down to the First and Second Century BC. If someone knows how to narrow it more, I would appreciate and advice or assistance.
Thanks for all the positive remarks. The seller of these first two coins is one I haven't bought from in quite some time. He has always been good to me and given what I consider honest pricing.

Interesting to see how the thunderbolt is depicted differently in various regions. Very nice details on Zeus too!

Oh. That does make sense. I thought that you were just wanting to post them. Sorry.

Quote: I thought that you were just wanting to post them I am. But half the fun is discussing them and reading what others have to say about each coin. No reason to be sorry. Your comments are welcome.

Another nice coin!
Regarding its date; I wish there were more resources and easier to decipher information on Greek coins. I bought that CD with about 150 books and essay's but as much information as is there its not laid out in an easy to read, easy to digest way.
What I need is a tome that has sections for each city and each coin and lists the varieties and evolution/developments of each particular design. I pressume if there is such a book it will be a huge and expensive tome.

Most if not all these books are mondo expensive.

Great coin! Real nice thunder bolt and Zeus is nice too!
I have noticed that a lot of Greek coins get dated by century.
