If hes willing to eat it thats very nice of him. I had a package get stolen that was shipped internationally, pretty sure a guy at the airport snagged it when he saw what it was, the PO should check their internal tracking which is a little more detailed and may turn out someone was being lazy and scanned it before it really was delivered. Id still check with them on monday hopefully itll just turn up then though. Other than that someone either had to take it or it was put in the wrong mailbox by accident. Does anyone close to you have the same house/apartment number thats near by, I would check with them too if they do

It is extremely annoying that you have to put what the item is and the value on the outside of packages... To me it serves as a temptation to others...

Plus I hate receiving packages that say "collector coins" of it. I always use something not as obvious like plated planchet or metal sample.

Better to declare coins as "hobby supplies", rather than "coins". It helps to pack them tightly so that anyone who opens the envelope or package can't easily identify the contents as coins.

Yes, I would check your post office too. I had one package undelivered because it was short 20 cents shipping even though the package was weighed. Maybe one of the scales was off?

It is very kind of you to offer to split the loss. That says class!

Lol, thanks. As poor as I am and as much as I didn't want to, I figured it was the fair thing to do.

And good news is the coins showed up today. Not sure how that happened. Tracking number shows it as being delivered on december 24th, and it finally shows up january 2nd. Someone really messed up there, but I'm glad the coins finally turned up.

Not trying to thread-jack, but I broke one of my own rules and sent a package to Ukraine back in late Nov 2012...needless to say...it never (or has not) arrived (yet). I sent him a total refund and I will not send anymore packages outside the U.S. (CCF members are not included in this statement) when it comes to ebay sales, which I am trying to wean off of.

A package? To Ukraine? In late November? And you think it should've arrived already?
Believe me, it would very probably arrive before January ends, and then you'll think yourself a complete fool for refunding.
Back in late May 2012, a fellow CCF member (in the US) sent a package to me (in Russia); when I didn't respond as to its arrival in mid-July, he was sure it would never arrive. It did though - on July 27... almost two months after it was sent.
Admittedly I don't know much about Ukrainian customs; they might be more stringent than Russian ones. Either way, there's no reason it wouldn't arrive in January, but there's no reason it would arrive in December either.

I have to concur with Jan1May, customs in Ukraine are horrendous!

Try driving from Poland into Ukraine with a British car and it can be 5 hours or more and 10 different customs stamps/huts to go through. The communists LOVE their bureaucracy!

I would hold on a little bit, there is every chance it will turn up. Remember they were frozen solid with -30 for all of December (I was there!) They are probably still trying to defrost the post van!

The two times I had customers claim that they did not receive an item, they both had tracking numbers. And both times USPO said it was delivered. And both times ebay made ME eat the loss and issue a refund. The reason? It's still legally belongs to ME until the Customer walks out to the box and puts their hands on the package.
