He is only selling this as a 1983 plated penny, no idea what it is plated with.

It's not a scam because he's selling it as what it is: a toonie with no core. He didn't say it was minted that way.

If you think that is 'selling coins honestly', then don't ever go shopping for a used car... The coin is damaged/defaced, and the seller knows it. I hold those ebay sellers in the same regard as those travelling silver & gold buyers. They want your money, for nothing in return. Pass judgement in any politically correct way you want, but I support smallcentguy in his original post. How would you feel if a novice collector bought this item? Or what if your mom spent $25 on this, thinking she was buying you something special? Sellers like these are detrimental to our hobby.

The coin is SILVER in color and it's PLATED.... So I am not wrong calling it silver plated. He knows it's not natural... End of story.

If it's missing the core, is it only worth $1.00?

Hello to all! I am the person responsible for this ebay posting! Thank you to all of you defending me and I apologize to all of those I have offended. I was not in any way trying to scam or take advantage of anyone! I do not know the origin of those items nor did I ever say that they were uncirculated. I did say rare only because its not everyday you see something like this. These postings were deleted last week...long before I noticed this conversation which I found today. To those of you I have offended...I'm truly sorry but I really think its unfair to judge, condemn and burn me at the stake without knowing me and confronting me first. If you thought it was so wrong and that someone was going to be unfairly taken than why didnt you send me a simple message through ebay to let me know your thoughts? No, instead you come here and feel you have the right to tear someone apart. I'm not running or hiding from this, but I am defending my character...Im standing up to my mistake and apologizing...I'm sorry

^ And THAT is why you shouldn't jump up and call something a scam if you're not sure. :)

Thank you OddCoins. The last thing I wanted to do was hurt someone. Looking at it now, I could have maybe been more detailed in the description and I will be more careful in the future for sure.
