My opinion. Test note with changes to the polymer used.

Or they could be testing new security features which they are planning for the new notes.
That would explain why it is all a bit "hush hush".

Mob of Roos, that's the worst part...the fact they might exist...we are still waiting to see the amazing $10 DZ12, the RBA won't admit to anything apart from the fact that they're running low on notes, hence the $5, $10 & $50's already being dropped & released into cicrulation in areas running low on notes.
Craig; it will be interesting to see when they finally decide on the release date...it'll (hopefully) come more professionally & effeciently than the 1988 commemorative release, which saw one print run of 34 prefixes pulled.
If that's the case, then it might be time to start holding our current polymers.
It'll also be interesting to see the strategy they take regarding changeover considering there are 1.147 billion polymer notes circulating & over 5.313 billion polymer notes printed (*before the 2012 print).

All this speculation is based on the posting from one person who has yet to provide the evidence of the notes' existence other than the say so of a third party.

I'd be waiting.

Cheers

Waiting is no fun, speculating and the "what ifs" is sooo much better.. hehe.

Exactly as Craig said...it's all about the WHAT IFs!?!?

It's much more exciting.

I would think that the new notes will circulate alongside the old notes for a while until the old notes gradually fall out of circulation. Thats what happened with the recolourd $5 in 1995.

I think youre right mobofroos. It would be a HUGE task to completely replace all of the botes in circulation in even a short period of time.

Hi,

Any further news on this claimed DZ 12 note? Any sign of the original poster of the information?

Cheers

Enworb,

If that is the case, then it is pretty poor form on that poster's behalf - not fitting of a member of this Coin Forum.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. He was passing on second hand information from his sister so maybe there was some sort of confusion.

Speaking of 2012 notes I found my first one today $50 prefix CG12.
I'm still yet to see any 2010 or 2011 notes

Hi all.

It's been a while since my last posting.
Have been very busy at work
However, I have made some interesting finds recently.
Here is the first one.
A $100 banknote with "BZ" prefix, picture forwarded to me by an old friend that I bumped into recently .
Picture attached (of course)

I think we can safely say that the DZ12 999567 $10 was a hoax. There are plenty of 2012 notes in circulation now and no sign of any rogue prefixes.

Oh well, there is still the prospect of newly designed notes coming out sometime in the next few years to keep us on our toes
