Great--the scans make good sense to me too--I'll put it together in a couple days.

Well I am 28 and been collecting ancients since I was 15 but only in the last few years did I dive in as my income increased in order to at least meagerly collect what I like. I think I need at least a $100,000 a year pay raise to collect what I really want. You know one of those Syracuse Tetradrachms in mint state with all kindsa stuff going on on it. When I started collecting ancients, I only saw one every few years, I never went to a coin show that had ancients I could afford. I really didn't even get into ebay until a few years ago, and recently branched out to make deals on numismall and vcoins. I would love to go to one of those power house auctions, and raise a paddle. Maybe I will go back to school for another 2 yrs and become Dr. Noob so at least I can fit in.

Great to see all the interest--I'll find a way to scan this soon.
Eng5858, if I make it to the show, I'll definitely bring one along.

I just read this thread all the way through, and am truly surprised at the ages of some of you guys. I'm old enough to be at least your grandfather. It's good to see young interest in Ancients and history in general. It gives this old geezer some hope for the future.

Thanks for the Scan!
It is a great brochure...
Many great coins relating to something my family can relate to!

@Bing
A little shocking (), isn't it Bing...

I started collecting ancients at 14...
I was the youngest ancient coin collector that my former (I moved) local dealer (Calgary Coins) had seen since the 70's...
And the youngest that my current local dealer (Ancient Numismatic Enterprise) has ever seen...

I've got a good feeling of the future of Ancient Coin Collecting (what I have seen is a younger average age (35-50 is the normal age of people I see buying ancient coins)...

I'm just ahead of the curve to a lower average age

Now back to school (I don't apply to what we are listening to.. English AP )

Hi Grandpa

Interestingly, the guy that got me started was a bit worried about the future of numismatics (everyone around me was 2 - 4 times my age) and he gave me an excellent price on the coins I bought from him. He also put a Hadrian sestertius into my hand worth £300 (not the most valuable coin I've held, in my opinion, but worth the most).

He just didnt want his hobby to die out. Well, looks like ancients should be fine for another generation. See a young person interested, you throw whatever you can at them.

And Bing - careful, you'll get yourself a new nickname.

Windchild, glad you like the scans!
Also nice to see a big range of ages in this hobby too--as it should be!

I know a few Olympians so it is even more interesting for me.

I agree that it is great to see the age range here...
I'm surprised I'm not the only YN Ancient Coin Collector on CCF

The collection and study of ancients is for the slightly more mature numismatically minded.
Sure, I would like to give it away, but to an older 'kid' that has already shown some general numismatic interest and has acted upon it.
Perhaps you could run off ten or so copies and give them away in broadcast fashion, and keep the original for further copying if needed.

At a member's suggestion, I have digitized the brochure--and at no cost to me. I think it turned out well, just PM me if you'd like a copy.

believe it or not one of my ancients looks a little like the torch carrier, but there is no where near enough detail on the coin to be sure, so it could be wishful thinking lol. thanks again for sharing
