Hi Lightw4re,
I had no idea that the site was the work of one individual putting together in spare time... if this is true than I say bravo to you!
I guess the occasional mistake can be forgiven... please accept my apologies regarding my earlier criticism... :)
Thanks for enlightening us about your work and best wishes on your continued development of this site... I do agree with others that it does provide a handy, easy-to access reference source!
Take care, and Have a Great Monday!

Your coinsandcanada website has helped me immensely learn about Canadian coins. I jumped into Canadians as I picked up many from CRH here in the US (looking for US wheat cents, WAM's, errors etc..). I then looked for a folder to put my "finds" inside. That led me to acquiring at a local show an almost full set of 1920's-current cents album. Your site opened me to all of the varieties of Canadian cents and I started looking for them. Your site then intrigued me about Canadian large cents, so I started collecting them too (I've knocked out a full set from 1899-1920 including another dozen or so from 1859 to 1899- trying to finish the rest of those too). I just added nickels and dimes. I've just about completed 1922-current nickels (except 3 keys) and now jumped into the silver ones. In Dimes I've pretty much finished 1922-1972, and have also started the pre-1921 coins. I have a chance to pick up some 25 cent and 50 cent partially filled folders (at melt price). I also came across a huge supply of Newfie dimes and Canadian UNC half dollars from the 1960's. I'll be posting about those soon because I don't know a lot about either. The point being is that your site allowed me to discover about Canadian coins, the history, and the varieties. Your site educated me and helped me start an interesting hobby in collecting Canadian coins. Thanks for your effort.

@eddio : I can't. Copyrighted by this website. I could do it if: 1. I receive the pictures by email or 2. I have the written permission of the owner or 3. The pictures are posted on CoinsAndCanada.com.
Thank you all for your kind words.

When checking ebay results for pricing results for any item, you also have to take into account that not every buyer is searching on ebay every day or even every week. I recently sold an item which I had listed several months ago at $39.00 for a starting price. It went unsold each time that I re-listed it about 7 or 8 times. It has now sold and the selling price was $71.00 .... this has happened to me on multiple occasions in the past 14 years of selling on ebay.

Carpman And thank you lightw4re for your site and for replying to our questions. Do you research and update prices by yourself or do you have assistance from members of your forum?

@DBM: Members and visitors help me a lot with articles, errors and varieties pictures, and some other sections of the website (thanks to all of them!). The Price Guide is updated by me only. I had offers to help me with that, but always declined.

I use them occasionally, I find it an o.k, quick online resource. The truth is that all references are most likely backed by dealers to some capacity. Research and the market trends are your best resources to find prices, anything is only worth what people are willing to pay in regard to a collectables market.
I use CaC for a quick reference on more common coins which has proved relatively safe. For scarce and rare coins I will use multiple sources to gauge a value and set my top price by a mean of the prices quoted by grade. This system works for me. My rule of thumb is never pay more than EF for a coin I am purchasing online even if I really want it.

Welcome to CCF Carpman.... I know you have been lurking here a while...
Hopefully Bill will not accidently turn your handle into something immensely humorous (again)... Zonad, t_y and I still find that old CCRS slip-up funny!!

LightW4re, I would like to thank you for the work you do on your website. As someone who is brand new to coins your website has been a massive help in cataloguing a collection that I inherited. It is a great site and I use it all the time.

Nobody seems to know what happened, but many are using the French site now (I am). Here's a link to a current discussion on the subject: https://goccf.com/t/185722
