I went this afternoon to the Mint Boutique on Granville Street and there was rather a long wait. We had to line up outside for about 20 minutes, inside for another 30 minutes. The problem was the machine kept breaking down. You can see the coins on the picture is a bit off center.

Very cool! I should take a trip up to Canada and give it a try....maybe a different year. I would like to visit the mint sometime in the near future.

Nah.., not interested. Unless I can add something on the coin (a word, a letter, a name) for example.

jealous to those live closed by the boutique. It is not fair for collectors who live in other Cities. Not fair RCM.

Quote: Did you guys get the free gifts? No. I did not get the free gift because there was a very long line in the early morning. I heard some people went there at 8:00 in the morning and stand in the line for 2 hours before the boutique opened the door. The free gift is the 2012 O Canada Gift Set.

It was a zoo on Saturday, with people lining up as early as 7 am at the Vancouver boutique.
I was fortunate to obtain six tokens on the first day, Friday. It was so slow, late in the afternoon after the morning rush, and I had a wait time of 3 minutes. Got to see the $69,000 1 kg gold coin. Cool job with the hand cranked token maker. In the previous years, you needed to wear googles, lift a 8 lb hammer, and hope you hit the tip of the die to make your token. Guess the Mint realized the potential for liability.

Here is a picture of the red pouch that the tokens come in. It is about 2 inches by 1 1/2 and made of cloth.

Yep I went today, got gift 41 and 42. I was also too early, had to go back a little later. Got the tokens, they are a little off center as well.
