I'm definitely still here and posting as much as I usually do. Sometimes not that much, other times a lot.

I am not new to Coin Community, but I am new in the Ancients. I have received so much help with my newly found addiction from many members, especially Masis and Bobbyhelmet. This is a great forum, I received much more assistance that I thought I may.
Thank you to everyone for making me feel welcome and taking it easy the newbie!

I am hardly an expert on any certain thing and very rarely can I help anyone when asking about ancient coins but I have been away from the forum for awhile because of some personal situations I have been trying to work out. If I am one of the long time members that is thought to be gone just know that is not the case. I am still here and this will always be my home, I am trying to get everything straightened out so I can return like I once was. I know this is probably talking about some people that something that happened that I have no clue of since I have been sporadically visiting the forum since before Christmas and even then I haven't really read many threads at all but I do want to let anyone know that thought I was gone for good that you can be assured I will be back and very soon hopefully

Speaking personally I have been quite busy of late working two jobs...so I have not been very active since time is tight.
Things are what they are and when we join a forum we all agree to abide by their rules, so I am not criticizing but I have to say that many forums downfall is striking a balance with enforcing those rules/moderation. I don't know the specifics of losing Steve but his witty and enthusiastic posts will be missed by many around here, and when he was suspended for posting a coin with a nude on it I thought it a little over-zealous. Personally I don't find the naked human body offensive, and I doubt that it was particularly pornographic; I make this point without malice.
As for the purchasing of coins, though I have to be a little careful with the pennies at the moment there will be future coins posted by me. If I don't always comment on others threads it doesn't always mean that I don't read them, just with time constrains and an unwillingness to make negative comments or post with no meaningful contribution (for instance on fields that I have no knowledge or interest) I am becoming a little more selective as to when I post.

I also am no expert and am fairly new but I read the ancient threads daily but am so busy with work and a 19 month old daughter that I rarely post. Also, I haven't purchased many coins as well so not much new stuff to post. I am curious, however, as to why some CCF veterans have left? Could it be they just have some life stuff to deal with?

Well, I'm new to the ancient side and look forward to receiving my first dirties tomorrow! It's a busy week so I may not have time to post 'before' photos for many days but I'm sure they'll provide many posting opportunities. Not sure how long the cleaning will take then I'll see how far I can get with attribution before turning to the forum for help.
CCF is such a fantastic forum-- compared to other sites (in any genre) the people are so friendly. Hats off to the moderators for keeping it that way!

Hi Ferro, aboard! You'll find a lot of good stuff here. I recommend that if yhou want to try your hand at ancient coins, you start with a small uncleaned coin lot off of ebay. Theres another sub forum for US coins (theres a sub forum for everything here)

Thanks everyone, I've been reading the board for a couple of months but honestly there is so much to learn. My background is traditional black smithing so romain artifacts are what started the interest. I focus on precious metals so I am on that forum a lot also. Haven't bought any ancient coins yet as I am cautious in regards to fakes and copies. I did purchase a single lot of 50 coins from one of those e** places so hopefully they are not all slags... Will learn. If anyone knows of a reputable place to purchase, please let me know.
