The capsules I have from the mint have that. Its just where they were separated from the plastic stem when they were produced.

Thanks all for the input. I did look at my other coin capsules from RCM and they do have it. But this time around, it seems a bit more obvious than the others.

I picked up a dino at the post office on tuesday. The capsule wasn't closed properly and I had to force it closed. Seemed ridiculous to me

Lostwords you noticed it more maybe because there is no edge on the coin.. Maybe lol And big spender not completely close capsule happen but it's dosent affect the coins since RCM doesn't air seal their coins, they are dipped in a special liquid that prevents coins from tarnishing.

So these dino coins glow in the dark? How do they get that effect? Does the mint apply some foreign substance onto the coin?

It won't likely hurt to keep a few on hand... but I wouldn't go "all in" if you are stretched for funds.

a couple extra would be fine, they should hold their value especially after the 3rd coin is released.

I'd buy them all, you'll regret it when the next Dino coin comes out.
Hepcat They do glow, you just put them in the sun or under a light for a bit, after that bring it into the dark and it's actually pretty awesome. They also use a special process so the glow in the dark substance doesn't get weaker over time.

Good for you. 😈 When the next Dino comes out you'll be happy you did. There's new collectors coming to the hobby everyday, when they get the 3rd coin they'll also want the 1st and second.
