I got 4 similar notices, I'm hoping that another 1914 $5 gold shows up :-), the penny roll would be a bonus, not holding my breath though.

That's great news.

I will receive the "Two Loons", "20for20 Polar Bear", "25-Anniversary Loonie" . Still nice, why not...

Just incredible to get shipping notices on products that are 2 yrs old. It really makes one wonder what goes on at the mint. They must of cleaned out some closets. It's a wonder they didn't get cancelled.

Interesting ebay listing if you have a spare $8000 you don't know what to do with. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/2012-CANADA-...AOSwGIRXZZ3a
I had no idea RCM boxed them up for sale.

Looking on the prices of this seller, it seems to be he/she tries for the first time to sell RCM NCLT.
Average coins (some not bad), and more than issue only cause seller spent some money grading them?

Cool, thats only $160 per roll.... But it could be a worth a lot more "someday" if the box and the rolls stay together. Just think in 100 years how cool that box and the 50 set of rolls will be.

Or they could be saying my great Grandfather paid $8000 for $25 worth of pennies - no wonder we're broke...

At the end of the day, they are worthless pennies wrapped in "special" paper. I'd rather buy gold with that kind of money.

That's what I thought when they came out but people seems to pay a premium for basically 50 cents

Actually at the end of the day they are worth whatever someone is willing to pay, same can be said about anything you buy , people have no problem paying $150 for 1oz of silver thats worth like $20 of silver which could be worth only $5 oz some day if the price falls enough , heck gold could be worthless in 100 years, probably not but you just never know lol.

At this price if it sells close to asking the chance for these rolls to appreciate any further is very slim, there are at least 20,000 rolls maybe more, there is just no numismatic value to these coins, just a clever RCM marketing label.

As John100 said, these pennies have no numismatic value at all given that there are millions of these. I'm sure everyone who wanted a 2012 penny or roll (whether it be specially wrapped or not) got one, so this box of 50 for $8000 is just redundant and overpriced. But hey, if you want a box of pennies and you have $8000, its your money, go nuts!

Diamonds aren't particularly rare or intrinsically valuable. Now go try to trade a rock from the garden for your wife's engagement ring. GL.

Marketing or not, the fact is the special wrapped rolls sell for significantly more than 50 cents and much more than regular rolls.

I'm more curious about how this seller got a full box in sequence. I'd have to assume a dealer was involved since there was a household limit of one per from the Mint and even dealers were limiting sales to 5 or less. Could it be a RCM employee is involved?

The only other box I have seen was a pic posted by the guy who had COA #1. At least I think it was full box IIRC.
