lol, not smack talk, I just wanted to point out that American coinage is the only coinage that could use some ideas to make them more solidly collectible. You said yourself that most people over there don't really collect!

Sure--the Queen pretty much represents the commonwealth. However, the "flip side" often has nice subject matter, especially those depicting wildlife. Consider how many interesting US animals haven't found their way on coins--yet.

Square rigged ships always turn out well on coins. Why not search World coins and get them all? There is not very many types to collect.

I've always found foreign currency to be 'prettier' than US currency. Not so much the coins (although the recent revamps have been great), but I've always found our paper money to be really ugly. Even with the addition of colors the last few years hasn't helped them. Raymo.. that Regal isn't funny looking! That is the Queen! This made me cackle out loud in the office.... Oh and I'll be right there with basebal21 looking for some of the NZ coins shown (once I reach the threshold)!

The thing to do is petition the government to put your own face on your own coins.

I just picked up a proof set of NZ coins on ebay so soon I should have that beautiful 50c piece in hand As for the U.S. coins, I got one of the 2009 Lincoln cents on the weekend from one of my last Canadian rolls so I was happy about that too :) Cheers!
