Quote: Just out of curiosity...the Mint's shipping notification email has a link for tracking but doesn't provide a tracking number. How are we supposed to track? You have to give it a few hours to get into the CP system. Just like if you mail a package, you can't go right to CP website to start tracking it.

You have to call the mint and ask for the tracking number. If you're lucky you won't have to wait too long to get through. The mint used to give the number in the shipping notification emails several years ago, but in the interest of improving efficiency and taking a load off their staff, they stopped doing it. I've been told they'll go back to the old system soon... Don't hold your breath.

@sw3dish ch3f, I didn't read carefully, I assumed they gave you a tracking number as the shipping notifications I received this week included tracking numbers.

Oh my Gawd! I'm speechless... Well almost... I'll let you all know if I get a tracking number with my next shipping confirmation, whenever that will be.

When I bought mine at my dealer's, I hand picked the coin. There were quite a few with marks (?) on them. One of the early ones I looked at had a series of three parallel marks to the left of the dragonfly right above the 10. After going through a few of them, I finally found one that I was happy with. I wasn't sure if it was the application of the holographic effect, or poor workmanship, but I was surprised at how so many had problems/marks on them

@rp14, no problem :)
@NuMoosematist, oh I see. Good to know. I always thought it was weird that they provide a link to track but never provided a tracking number

Quote: Btw, there are 5,680 types or species of dragonflies - they are really fascinating and beautiful to look at. Oh, for sure. However, if they limit it to Canadian species, it reduces it greatly. Then, most meadowhawks are pretty similar, ditto most darners (Common green darner is a nice exception), so I really don't see a huge number of species getting featured. I could certainly see half a dozen, though. And if a dragonhunter is featured, I will certainly want one, no matter how poor the hologram is. I will certainly be interested to see what others are featured, but I'm on the fence as to whether I will buy more of them.

Received my dragonfly a few days ago. It looks exactly like the picture except there was no blue colouring. No flaws that I could tell on the reverse, but there was a noticeable spot on the Queen's hairdo. The coin definitely stands out, but I think the Mint overhyped the hologram technology to sell a 1/2 oz coin costing almost $80. So I decided to exchange the coin at the Vancouver boutique today and got myself the Maple of Peace.

The very nice lady told me I can exchange a coin for another coin, but cannot get a refund. Considering the hassle to call for a RMA number, re-packing it into a box and the time and expense to go to CP and send it back by Xpresspost, I can't complain at all. Top notch service from the Vancouver boutique..

It's unfortunate Mrpiedfort that your dragonfly coin had a flaw on the obverse. With proper quality control this should not happen as frequently as it appears to. I have read several complaints about coins being not in acceptable condition in recent months. Also, if one buys anything online from a big name electronics company (e.g. Futures Shop), and wishes to return it for whatever reason, one can bring the item to any of its stores and receive a full refund. One is not forced to exchange it. This is what I would call "top notch" customer service! I think we Canadians are far too tolerant of our Crown corporations. P.S. The last sentence is primarily for the benefit of deal_with_singh.

I am looking at mine right now! I like it and will definitely keep it, but not sure if I will buy any more in the series.

The coin is not that great and the delay pretty much killed it as people prefer to spend the money else where. I like it but not enough to buy more than 1.
