The silver dollars (1935-1967) are worth at least melt of 0.6oz per. Are the post 1967 dollars silver or nickel? The 1976 is probably melt plus a few bucks if it's BU. Proof would be a bit more. It is 0.7227oz. If the 50 cent is 1920-1967 then it is 0.3oz.

Well silver is currently trading in the mid 28 range. 28.54 as I post this so silver dollars are worth just over $17 and 50 cent pieces just over $8.50 if they're melt value. Remember this is only for 1967 pre anything after this is worth alot less.

A couple of key dates from the 40's could be worth big bucks no matter there condition

Why don't you tell us what you have and we can provide you with a better idea of what has the potential to be worth more?  http://www.coinsandcanada.com is a great website, One question though, are the 70's and 80's dollars nickel or silver? (the silver ones are 36mm and DO NOT stick to a magnet, the nickel ones are 32mm and do stick to magnet) As for the half dollar, if it's silver (1967&prior) then it is worth roughly $8-9 depending on the silver price for the day, if it's nickel(1968-1999) or nickel plated steel(2000-present), then its worth... $0.50 Some pictures would be necessary to tell the exact values. hope it helps  |

The key date for silver dollars is 1948.
A key variety is the 1966 Small Beads
There really isn't a key date for nickel dollars.
Key varieties would be the 1974 Double Yolk (many variants) and the 1982 Constitution thin planchet

Silver dollars dated 1935 36 45 46 47 48 will usually be worth more than just their silver content.
