CC-Ottawa - Than to you, no coin is worth anything more than face value? Its a collectors item and serial #'s are somewhat important...are they not?

RMC: I don't think that CC-Ottawa is saying that there is no additional value, but rather that he just doesn't personally understand the appeal. In most situations I look for special numbers because I know that people look for special numbers, but I don't typically want them for myself. That being said, I was a contender early on for the 20,000/20,000 because I think that one would be really nice to own.... but once it hit $600 I backed out.

And as I said before...like any other item that holds a serial number, there will be key numbers that will add additional value.

Absolutely. And some are more obvious then others.

You're correct Wettld2. I do want a COA with my numi coins because to me, it's all part of the product but the number isn't very important. If I did have one that was significant to other people, of course I'd recognize that it has value but I wouldn't typically seek out a special no.

Having said that, there are plenty of collectors who could not care less about even having a COA or box. Their interest is just the coin. Same thing on the circulation collector side. Some want the coin, some want the coin plus a TPG certification. Different strokes.

If you truly believe that the "special paper/wrapper" is of no value then you should be willing to cut up and destroy any COA for any other numismatic product that you own.

That's a little different from the belief that certain COA impart a premium over others.

It is different than saying the COA has no value, since a coin may sell discounted without one.

Oops! I meant number 19999. If the person showed number 20000 on youtube as damaged, why can't number 19999 be the next best thing imo.

Nope. Youtube means nothing. "Oh, you want to buy my 19999, watch this youtube clip". Yeah, right. It is as meaningless as people saying to prove you mailed an expensive coin, video your putting your coins in a package, and video handing the coins to a PO clerk. Videos can be cut and altered. Useless....

Where are the key number COA sales?

I've seen a couple of low COA ebay auctions over the years, but show me a multi-page thread discussing auctions of special COA of any other NCLT.

Then again, where does COA #1 go? Can any collector ever get one?

Wow, some of you guys need to lighten up. Just having fun here. If I have lots and lots of money, I might put in a bid for that last penny roll myself. But right now, I'm happy with my two penny rolls, numbers 10067 and 8106. They will be with me and my kids for a long time.

Funny I just rxed my roll today, a r numbered replacement roll. It was shipped June 24th, 2013 from the mint. Considering the auction for the last roll distributed was 3 months ago I'm thinking my packing slip has value never mind the serial number. Here is my question is there anyway to find out how many R rolls were done, from research usually R bills dont have much more value but since this is a final run and it looks like the R's came out in the end, would there be a list of R serial numbers somewhere?
20,000 of 20,000 would be nice but knowing mine came out 3 months after that one puts a smile on face.
