I'm lousy on grading these, but appreciate anything 12-sided.

Don't see any obvious signs of wear
Is it 1870 SP? Can't think of anything else ultra rare.

ICCS has a tendency for grading these dark high grade coins lower than they actually are.

Technically, I would say it's at least an au58.

But because of it's darkness or perhaps even if it's lightly 'corroded' I would guess ICCS wouldn't grade it any higher than an ef45.

I would say that's the one!

Looks corroded to me.

PCGS would definitely grade that coin 'details'.

I still think technically it's a high AU.

But I would value it more like a VF20.

Put another way, I'd pay $1K for it but that's about it (half of trends of a vf20).

Is it even real? The I in DEI doesn't look right.

EF40, maybe a bit more.

Just wondering if this site can install a zoom option; it may generate higher sales.

I agree with doubleeagle59,coin is at least high AU with damage.
But I'd go $1500 without seeing the coin in hand.

I'd say AU details, environmental damage.

It's up to $4150 now.

Honestly, I don't feel sorry for these ignorant bidders.

Anyone with half a brain of numismatic knowledge knows the pitfalls that this coin has that will severely impact its value(excessive darkening; very possible corrosion details; possible very heavy abrasion issues on the cheek; and even the possibility of the coin being a Chinese-made fake).

It still has some worth, no doubt about it, but at 4K, I do believe we're way beyond the coins' worth.

Well, two guys duked it out and drove bidding up to $5,000...

And then two new bidders jumped in and took it home to final sale price...

Winning bid: US $7,300.00

Thats the most in past 6 years that I've seen a raw coin bid up to on an open ebay auction...

Trends AU-50 on this date is $10,000...

I was going to go up to $6,250 on this one. I would have returned it if it wasn't Uncirculated as he described. Wasn't enough anyways.
