You can't look at the hoard release in isolation. The existing populations before the hoard release have to be considered. If existing + hoard for the 1914 is less than 1913, then 1914 will still be the more valuable.
The 1913 had over 3x the mintage of the 1914. So, there is a good chance the pre-existing population of MS-64+ coins is higher. The 1914 also has the cache of being the key date.
Clearly the distribution of the melt is a key piece of missing information.

Would you buy a 1913 premium hand select in that case or wait and see if a 1914 appears?

I'm wondering the fact the fact only 1/3 of the 1913 are premium hand selected vs 1914, the 1914 has huge premiums.

I haven't seen any lately on ebay. I believe Canadian Coin & Currency had some of the premium for sale awhile back. I managed to get a 1914 $5 premium after all this time.

We can be thankful that these coins exist today because people a hundred years ago preferred paper money redeemable in gold,to the gold coins themselves. Legislation was passed then withdrawn to force miners to accept these coins as payment for gold, the miners absolutely refused and demanded payment in paper. Consumers in general at the time did not want gold coins, history had shown them to devalue over time due to wear, they wanted paper money, always worth the five or ten dollars printed thereon.Little did they know.

I think the $750 was a "buy it now", which seemed really low to me and even thought about buying it, but the coin was a bit beat up for my liking. I recently sold one for $900 (~MS63).
