If you don't...send him my name, I WILL!

I am always looking for the "out of the ordinary" for my 7070.

I was considering talking him down maybe to $350, but now after I heard that these coins were his fathers and that he recently passed away, I will probably pay the full $400. He also has a 1793 vine and chain cent that is "Worn and corroded" with 3 leaves and chain on back for $400 also.

That doesn't mean anything. He might just be saying that to make you feel bad for him so you will pay the extra money. Get that coin for as little as you possibly can.

The 3 legger looks pretty nice for the money.

I've seen much worse (described anyway) conditions for much more. You may certainly pay $400 for that and then PM me and I'll be glad to take it off your hands!!

Moe, I'm not sure were you're located, but after I get the 3 legger I'll send you the link to the ad. P.S. (Be within driving distance of Fl)
I would be happy to buy it for you, but I'm just a kid, and I will be borrowing money from my parents just to buy the 3 legger. I also currently have no source of income.

Wait Moe, I might have to buy the large cent. This is a quote from the listing "3 LEAVES AND CHAIN ON BACK." DID HE SAY 3 LEAVES? STRAWBERRY?!?!?!?!?!!?!?

No problem. When you're done buying one or the other, if you don't mind, send me the ad and I can investigate on my own for the remainder!

The only problem is that the Chain cent is not certified. I may consider asking if he will take $600 for both and if the chain cent turns out to be a fake, then I still have the XF 3 legger for 600 which is not a bad deal. Can anyone give me a crash course on fake 1793 chain cents?

Um, I'm not familiar with any chain cent featuring leaves, or vegetable matter of any kind. The wreath cents have three leaves above the date (the "strawberry leaf" having three leaves, each with three leaflets). If there are leaves on the obverse and chain "on the back," this coin may be easy to rule out as genuine, but of course,
Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong!

Yes, I soon realized this after a few minutes of searching. I will be optimistic though. Hopefully he just misinterpreted a very worn wreath for a chain?

I'm sure vermontensium will share his PO-1 chain cent, or you can seek out his proud posting on the Forum, but it seems the last thing to go on a well-worn chain cent is usually a clear, solid chain that does not "go gentle into that good night."

I also share this concern, but I'm willing to look at the ad. Let me know what you decide, if you will.
