Yeah, send that back. Normally proof coins are handled with gloves, so that is definitely a mess up.

Do you think they will run the fingerprint to see who they should blame. Ha.

This has happened to me more than once, so it's not that uncommon.

Interesting thought...
Why is an error coin or a sar note usually worth MORE than a normal one but this type of error is worth less?

Here's one I got from a "special" Mint set of P & D rolls...paid extra for this:

You have a historic fingerprint that belongs to the shortest termed employee - one Phineas T. Bob. He was reputed to be the clumbiest employee the mint has ever employed on their finishing and packaging line.

You should be proud to have a real relic and a true historic piece. Collectors will be sure to pay extra for this memento.

Edit: phynix no collection is complete without such a specimen. You should consider yourself fortunate.

I just found it so odd that one coin had a fingerprint or how you could forget to wear a glove?

If it's a mint set then don't expect them to wear gloves (at least I don't). For proof set, I do expect them to wear gloves (the process of making it is also more labor intensive).

Btw, you should be able to get your return shipping cost refund (just keep the receipt of the postage cost that you've paid).... and talk to the customer service.

It was in fact a proof set. If they take care of it I will forget it before the month is out.
