And by the look of the "2", it's a Lg. Date... ...and also because no Sm. Date copper exists.

"...and also because no Sm. Date copper exists." At least not to date anyway. The 83 copper never existed either for the longest time.

LCR says send coins to CONECA where they will attribute and then send on to ANACS for grading. They do have options which do not include sending them on for grading. Looks like postage and fees could total in the neighborhood of $15 without grading. Or they say send to CopperCoins. I have not yet checked their prices. Seems to me the cost might exceed the value of the coin? What say ye? Pete

Quote: I have not yet checked their prices $9.00(attribution and return shipping) for a single coin, multiple submissions would save some on shipping.

My apologies! I thought I had seen it on their website - but I have searched for whatever I saw and could not find it! If I do find whatever it was, I will post the link. In the meantime I must rescind the statement with deep apologies to all concerned! I have removed it from my post. Senility is no fun. "Getting old ain't for sissies!" Pete

Pete: What is going on at 4:00 on your close up image. If it were an east RPM, you might see a spread there?

Thanks for the question, coop - it may just be shadow - here is an image with a bit better lighting on the 4:00 position. In fact, with this lighting, it might be possible to pick out split serifs (?). (Quite minor) Pete

Well that makes it clearer. What was in the center of the mint mark is now missing. Just a normal mint mark. The first image made it look like there was an east cent post. Just the way a 1982-D mint mark should look. Had me going for a second..
Thanks for the second image. You have done away with glare on this image. So you did gain something on improving your images. Keep it up.

That's what I do. I believe in treating others the way I would like to be treated. If that happens, all benefit.
