Id like to chime in that I am a bank teller and the older style 100s are pretty common at my branch. Although never older than series 1977. Lots of star note dollar bills. Never see the older fives and tens anymore. Older 20s are about once a week. Older 50s about the same. No one ever buys 2 dollar bills but we have consecutive 2009 series. Just pulled a series 1963 dollar bill out of my drawer today.

Is there a website that details what kind of notes to look for by denomination? Experienced coin hunter here, with limited note hunting experience past the obvious ones

Not too exciting, but I picked up a 1957 (series B) $1 silver certificate at the bank today.

As a teller I Have accumulated 500 bucks worth of series 1996-2001 20 dollar bills. Is this of interest to anyone?
I also have pre 1996 100s 20s 10s 5s, star notes ect. A mint 1996 series 50 too. I'm located in WI. Just looking to help people out.

What the fascination with 1996 20's? I had one in crisp condition, should I have not spent it?

I know this is an older thread but I want to see if anybody (especially in Canada) has any interest in hunting banknotes and wants to share their finds. While I don't normally banknote hunt, I sometimes take out low denomination notes if I have to transfer money between different banks as an excuse to search. Today I took out $1200 in 10s. Still no Poloz signature notes. Unfortunately nothing of interest, but several serial numbers that were very close. Only 11 of the 120 bills were paper, less than 10%. On one of the polymer notes, someone gave John A. MacDonald a sick pen moustache.

shoeplier: I think there's a canadian banknotes thread approx 50 pages of people sharing their finds... it hasn't been bumped in awhile but do a search and I think you might be able to find it...
post your finds on there and I'll be happy to discuss 'em... I LOVE banknotes!

Thanks Ag. I think you're talking about "Post your papermoney collections," right? That's the only large thread I found. I was just hesitant to post there because I was looking for a thread where people can post their banknote searching finds like they do for coin roll hunting. However there seems to be another Canadian thread going strong about recent circulation finds that I might just use for now.

Got a 2006 star note today at work! I started to gave it away to someone in change by accident and a lady thought I was giving her too much money in change back. I gladly and promptly tucked that one back and then gave her a different note saying 'nope I owe you a dollar!'
