I googled coin collecting. I looked at the threads, read some post and found one that a member was looking for info about a retirement medal that had a name on it. I couldn't help him with the medal but with the name, I found some info on who it was issued to. I was thinking wow I can learn for this guys and help out some. I come have a look almost everyday since.

As my memory fades with each passing day, I believe it was Mike Diamond's article in Coin World's "Collectors' Clearinghouse : Errors & Varieties" section that mentioned this online forum.

As a long-time error collector with virtually no reference material and no idea just what was available, one day I decided to google-search "penny varieties list". Wow! The search lead me right here and I've been hooked ever since.

In the winter of 2011/2011 I was going to the numismatic forum on Kitco.
One of the members posted the CCF site as a good place to investigate.
I came, I stayed and I have not been back to Kitco since.

I was a strong participant and supporter on the CCRS (Canadian Coin Reference Site), from 2005 to early 2010. Over time, we (collectively, the backbone of that site - the collectors) grew tired of the ever-changing rules and censorship that the owner of that site (and the Torex Coin Show) was increasingly imposing upon us. When I was deleted, simply for asking which "rule" was broken that removed an entire thread... that was the straw that broke the camel's back and we all left. Some CCRS members, particularly the Canadian large cent experts, went to Coppercoin.com, some members went to NumisSociety, some found their way here (e.g., Zonad and Bill in Burl) and some of us formed a private web forum...

None of us have returned to CCRS, and most of us no longer set foot anywhere near Torex.

After a couple of years of not participating on public forums, I found this place, with some old CCRS members hanging out here as well. I have been here a little more than two years. This site is not perfect, but I do like that it has a Canadian section. Ideally, I would love to see another Canadian-run web forum...

Via a google search
The situation was that a friend at work had found $20 bill with an error and I wanted to post pictures on the internet to see what people thought.

Was researching silver and came across this site via google many times over...so I kept on reading. Now I stack silver, buy and sell and have branched off into Canadian coinage.
