I don't like Hardcore Pawn because I believe it plays up to negative stereotypes of Jews and I find that offensive. Pawn Stars is also pretty bad in a cheesey hokey way, but IMHO I don't really like pawnbrokers to begin with.

The good ol days when History and Discovery were educational. Even they sold out and wanted to cash in on reality TV. The only thing I enjoy about Pawnstars is seeing the items, and you actually do learn a little bit of history about each. I could care less for the actual selling/transaction process. I saw Rick at the MGM Grand once, and tried to approach him, he was a complete jerk.

I can take a good poke or shot as well as the next guy, but... suggesting that I watch Duck Dynasty! Oh, the brutality of it! Oh, the trauma! Oh, the injury! The horror, the horror! It'll take me a long time to recover from this grievous injury! I may never be the same again...

I need to get some coffee before I read things in the morning. I totally misread "Hardcore Pawn" as Hardcore and I was like...what are we talking about here?!? LOL Those reality TV shows are jokes though. Practically everything they do is staged for television.

Who's making fun of Duck Dynasty? I love that show! Hunting, shooting, crabs, crayfish...and those guys eat everything that I'd eat, including beaver.

I dont see what the big deal is over these shows either. It is just entertainment after all. Enjoy it or dont watch?

In Canada, most of these "bargain" shows end up on OLN (Outdoors Life/Living? Network). It seems that they pick up any hot show and add the word "warrior", "wars", or "hunter" to it and that seems to justify its inclusion to the network programming. Ghosthunters, Storage Hunters, Mantracker, Storage Wars, et cetera, they're not very creative with the titles.

JB---You're absolutely correct, and in truth I don't watch those shows. Caught a few episodes of PS (back when it was pretty new), quickly achieved terminal overload and haven't been back there since. Caught about 30 seconds of DD one time, grabbed the clicker, ran for my life and haven't gone back there since.
In fact, the thought you offered above has already been put forth and taken a step further in a post a couple months ago downstairs in the PM forum, when one of the posters there was defending some previous posts and said "if you don't like it, don't read it."

I've noticed that if TV doesn't include sex, violence, and vampires, it isn't interesting to most people. God, guns, and clean living, where's the excitement there?

The guys on Pawn Stars remind me of Ferengis, for you Trekkies out there. Looked at that way, the show becomes quite amusing.

I can see how the Rules of Acquisition would apply to a pawn shop.
