No 2013 50p or £1 coins yet in change for me. Finally just got my first 20p.
A friend from County Durham reports getting a 2013 definitive / shield type 50p in change.

At last! Got a 2013 Welsh reverse pound coin in my local village store today.
Still no 2013 50p (of any design).

Just been out to the cinema (movie theater for Americans) with a lady friend who always 'goes Dutch' - when she gave me the money for her ticket, among the coins was a definitive style 2013 £2 - the first I've had!

... and today I had to go to the bank to pay in a cheque, so I asked for two £10 bags of 50p coins. Just sorted through them and got one immaculate 2013 (definitive type). There were two 2012 definitives, two 2011 Olympics (Swimming and Archery), one 2011 World Wildlife Fund, one 2010 Girl Guides and one 2007 Scouts.

Olympics swimming - Good EF Olympics archery - NEF WWF - virtually UNC but with a small stain on the obverse
Was quite surprised to get two Olympics coins in one bag!

At last...It's taken me ages but I've just completed my 2013 set from circulation. Got this one today - been a nightmare to find one.

You're lucky Steve - not had one of those yet but have had two of the Tube train design. And not had a Benjamin Britten 50p either, though just had my first Ironside one.

I'm looking out for the 2014 1 penny coin. I put together a complete collection of 1 penny coins dating back to 1971. All I'm missing is the 1972 version which was released in proof only. I could buy it from ebay but I ain't paying £8 they're charging.

I found it interesting that the number of pennies and 2 pence`s minted by The Royal Mint over the past two years has sharply declined in relative terms , I suspect people are emptying out their change jars and a lot of old coins are coming back into circulation so theoretically a 1972 penny that may have been stuck in some unwitting persons change jar could turn up somewhere soon enough .....

Even if every single proof penny from 1972 was still in circulation, the chances of finding one would be tiny. The Royal Mint probably released around 100,000 proof sets, and there about 11 billion pennies in circulation. That means odds of around 1/100,000 of finding one in your change.

Interesting math on the odds , yeah it really is along shot finding one ... I am curious about something , when you were putting together your penny collection did you encounter any Isle of Man or Jersey pennies ?

the odds are much smaller cos people don't usually circulate proofs.
