"But you do need to rule out unconscious movement."

I disagree. Unconscious movement is the only rational answer. Those of us who have
sat at a Ouija Board all say "I didn't move it." And of course, we did not consciously move it.
But our unconscious minds did.

Astrology has been successfull in timing the markets, but those who use it keep it their secret.
Even then, the timing must be perfect to within a margin of four minutes. Not my area.

The traditional rulerships would apply:

Sun = gold
Moon = silver, and presumably the other "white" metals. [platinum, palladium, etc.]
Saturn = copper, nickel and other "base" metals
Mercury = mercury (used in EVERY compact fluorescent bulb made)
Jupiter = ? Metals which expand and benefit an industrial use would be an area to investigate.

If anyone wants to track metals with Astrology, I'll offer a hand.
I just don't do it myself.

Just because he is a spirit now and I have little doubt of that and his communication with you, but never the less he cant see into the future, minus using the stars as astrologist do lol....

Be careful as you open doorways messing with such and that door is not restricted to just the good who has past as evil can cross through and get to know you and that is the last thing anybody needs an evil spirit taking interest in them, just study the Lorain's work via what the new movie The Conjuring is based on, muuuu ha ha ha.....

You know that Ouija started as and still is trademarked by Hasbro as a board game eh~ Nothing to do with divining until I think around WWI.

@traevin:
the bard failed to realize that it was the same philosopher that dreamt up heaven and earth :)

Even if you make the HUGE leap of faith required and assume that your dead grandfather can communicate with you what makes you think he knows any more about silver than you yourself do?

That's pretty much a cultural and philosophical discussion. I gotta say, though, in most of the afterlife scenarios I'm familiar with, I can't see anyone who made it to the great beyond(TM) giving a rat's bum about the silver price.

Perhaps his grandfather had a career in the silver industry?

However, if being dead magically gives you the ability to predict the future skip the sliver question and ask for the numbers in the next big lottery.

I would just love to add to this thread a smart and funny comment as our fine members have with their great posts.

Unfortunately for me, it hits home. In my late teens, a close friend invoked spirits one too many times and his last seance scared the bejesus out of him and 2 other guys,
to the point where my friend was never the same after that. Subsequently, he was left with emotional and psychological scars.Probably spiritually as well. .

From my understanding about the board, its a conduit for ill will, low laying spirits still connected to earth and who jump at the opportunity to manifest as the door opens.

After reading from different sources a long time ago, its seems that, in allot of instances the specific spirit invoked is not who we'd hope for. I'm not saying that's the case for you silverdollar.
I believe you communicated with your grandfather because you probably initiated this with good intentions.

All I want to leave here is to say please be careful. Invoking spirits is serious business (because we're not meant to do it) and your grandpa might not want to come back
and manifest for trivial reasons.

I'm sorry if I pooped on your thread silverdollar, I'm only doing it because I care.
BTW: Spirits, in no way can they predict the future, no more than we living can. Even if they could, they probably wouldn't be allowed to...
Peace

In our society, if Ouija boards really connected with spirits-some good and some evil-and some of those evil spirits possessed or tortured people don't you think there would have been a lawsuit or two by now?

I'm just sayin...

Without some conclusive video evidence, what lawyer would take your case, even if an unseen spirit truly had brain-jacked you? We're still trying to decode all the rules guiding the natural world. Our understanding of the supernatural, the metaphysical, the psychic world- that could be the next major area of serious, university-level, empirical research someday.

As unlikely as an Ouija board's efficacy may be, try not to make the same mistake that science has made throughout the ages: thinking we've uncovered all the big answers to things, that we've reached the pinnacle of human understanding. It's the height of hubris, IMO.

Here's a hypothetical for you: perhaps what people term "insanity" is simply a complex, little understood, form of spirit possession, as our ancestors once surmised. Don't discount every possibility simply because it doesn't fit into the nice, neat box that encompasses current scientific principles of understanding.

Search Penn & Teller Ouija Board on YouTube. You will see an experiment they performed by blindfolding people playing with the board. Once blindfolded the pointer pointed to nonsense and spelled gibberish. Whether it changes your mind or not, it's interesting.

Dawg,

I, personally, don't believe or disbelieve them. I've never even seen one. I have heard that they don't work so well when the participants are blindfolded, which is suspicious, aye? Perhaps the spirits are blind and simply need a pair of human eyes to see on our plane of existence ;)

Some things you see you just cant explain like this real video of the Warren's who they say inspired this new movie as I mentioned in my first reply in this thread....

Notice how the force is focused on the girl while she study's and you can see a serious strength in the jerky movement, certainly no fishing line here lol. Almost like the push away force you see when you flip magnets around the wrong way as they push away from each other....

Only way Penn and Teller can explain this below I bet they would say the CHAIR is made of metal and they have a high powered magnet under the sink they are triggering with remote control, possible perhaps, but WAY unlikely.....

"Well, we've really only settled the question of ghosts that emit or reflect visible light. Or move objects around. Or make any kind of sound. But that covers all the ones that appear in Ghostbusters, so I think we're good."
