Hi Unicorn, at 1st thats what I thought. There is however no evidence whatsoever of any type of solvent being used or any retouching of the image. It looks for all intents and purposes to be how it left the mint. Verrrrrrry strange!

This note had had a fair bit of artistic talent applied to it.
I don't have many artistic skills, but
it is dead easy to deform any polymer note.
Just iron it with a little too much heat. I just love watching them shrink!

I have added a reference pic as to what an original should look like.

Either a solvent to channel that artistic bent, or something more abrasive like the edge of a coin...

Being a 1992 note AA00 is first prefix & AB19 is last prefix Robster,so it's nothing special from a serial point of view.

I will try and get a real close up pic for you guys. There is NO evidence of any type of solvent use, abrasion or anything. It looks like it was printed that way.......which of course I realise is impossible.

Could anyone recommend someone in Sydney who might be able to view it. I have no interest in values, more from a curiosity perspective.

Cheers

The individual who produced this artistry must be a republican.
NOTE for U.S. members: 'republican' with a small 'r', because he / she apparently is not too keen about the Monarchy.
'republican' as opposed to 'monarchist'.

Not 'Republican' as opposed to 'Democrat'.

I would say scratched (the ink came off a lot easier on the older $5 notes).

I also think a solvent or abrasion has done this, and to back up the opinion, have a look at the gaps in the hair. The background lines are also missing/blurred.
Also (and this applies to any "is this a genuine error" type of question)

HOW would it occur during production?

Every genuine error has a proper explanation of how it came about during production.
As far as I can see, this has none.
