"that kid" could be me. I'd gladly take them off your hands. I am 15 and like most 15 yearolds don't have a big budget. I collect anything I can get my hands on. (the most I've paid for a coin is $30). I just got a folder for IHC and am looking for any condition just to fill as many holes as possible. Let me know. Thanks.

I agree with everyone else. A kid might want them, or you could try ebay if you have a lot of them. I am just starting out and bought a bunch of low grade IHC's at the World's Fair of Money last week, so someone would want them.

If you have a $1.48 worth of pennies that is one pound of copper, hoard them! :)

Have a few coins I would gladly send you. I cannot PM yet (not enough posts) but if you can find a way to send me your name and address I would be happy to send a few older circulated Lincoln cents and some other cool coins.

I take old coins like your IHC, and Buffalo nickles, I put them in 2x2 holders, along with some info on the coin, maybe this websites address, the ANA and others and hand them out for Halloween to the kids in the neighborhood. You could also run contests here at CCF specifying kids only or similar. Just because they coins are of no real value to you doesn't mean they won't mean everything to the right person!

I have boxes of these in my shop at 50 cents each, and they sit, and sit, and sit...lol..until someone comes in and buys a few. Like someone said, they are a good starter for a kid. Let them get excited in coin collecting!

I've often carried such coins in my pocket and included one with the tip money at a restaurant. Also, when at a coin show, and I spot a kid, I ask the parent if I can give the youngster an old coin; this, being sure to describe what it is, I'm giving. These are just a few, simple ways to pass along the joys of discovery and collecting.

Hey all, I'm new to the forum as of yesterday and I was browsing and found this thread. I agree with all who say make a young collectors day. There is nothing like seeing the lights come on in a kids eyes. It is sure to jump start someone in the hobby. Now with that being said there are other ways to move them, ebay is one which is not that great because there are about 150 auctions with the same idea. The other way is to add them along with your offer for an AU coin to a dealer, it is worth a try. You might save a little cash. I've finished my IHC collection a while back. I keep upgrading when I can. AU is high dollar from 1866-1872, these I have in F-VF, 73-09-s XF-AU and 57-65 VG-AU with a F12 1877. I've been looking and picking for the verities and have been very successful picking a 66/6 VG, 69/9 VG, 94/4 VG, 58/7 LDS XF details, and a 73 DDO S-1 VG but no 88/7.... not yet!! I have an eye for the verities since I collect Morgan Vams and you need an eye for that and maybe luck too...all in all make a kids day with the culls. Tin

I clicked "send e-mail," and it opened a new page that said "this member does not want to receive emails." I think it's a setting you can change on your profile.

I have always been a big fan of the IHC, such a gorgeous coin, maybe one of these days I'll do a set.

Yea, I really like the design too but these are so worn there's not much of the design left. Many a piece of penny candy they've bought in their lives.

I'll add my agreement here, definitely share them with some of the younger generation: inspire some future collectors. When I was a kid, I loved any "old" thing I could get my hands on and coins were certainly no exception!
