or a dime on a cent planchet, and a nickel on a cent planchet. Or one of the other two combinations.
It's not really 17 cents, but I see where you're coming from. I did learn a lot of other things in my quest for the answer, though, so for that, thank you.

Topher, a dime can't be struck on a cent and dave, a cent cant be struck on a nickel , the size of the planchet is too big to fit in the coining chamber.

Bingo!
I just got the 6 cent piece and it's awesome. It's The centerpiece of my collection (this week) the rarest and most expensive coin I own.
I have had the eleven cent piece for a few years now.

twokopeiki was the first on the right track, it's funny because I got a nickel struck on a dime planchet in the same lot as the 6 cent piece. It is Not a fifteen cent piece, struck nickel on a struck dime, which if I had along with my Two Cent Piece would make 17 cents as well. cool. now I need one. errror

Ok, photos, sorry to busy to shoot my own photo so here's the sellers pix. Image: 6c.jpg51 KB Image: 6cr.jpg52.19 KB You have already seen a nice example of an 11 cent piece, so I won't post mine. This 6 cent piece is fantastic. It's a double denomination flip over double strike with Two dates and the words one cent and five cents which clealy make this a 6 cent coin. 6 plus 11 equals 17 cents errrror PS, I' had been chasing this type of error for about five years.

I hope you don't mind me asking. How much is such an error going for on the market now? That sounds like one heck of an error coin.

Errorcoins, would it be asking too much to ask for the dates? Dick

Errorcoins, the date on the nickel is 2000-D. I can't make out the cent date. It should also be 2000-D, right? Dick
