I always said "If it wasn't for bad luck I wouldn't have no luck" so if you don't see me around in the near future it is because I got abducted by aliens and struck by lightning or kidnapped while dumping.

On a side note anyone know why the 1892P with a lower mintage is worth only 10% of the S which has a higher mintage?

Were the S melted or ?

Great find, to bad it wasnt an O mint. I cant figure that out with the barbers myself. I have 13 and 15 P already, but the 1892 s is gonna run me what I spent on the 15 and 13 P, and they have alot lower mintage.

AWESOME find jack! I'd grade it G-6, even though there's VG detail on it because of all the hits and uneven wear

Congratulations Jack - that's an amazing find

You searched two million coins? Is this what it's like at your house?

To jack jeckel,
Not so much that the branch mints "O" and "S" were melted. Rather, that the "P" was saved in large numbers. Think about it:
Los Angeles was a village back then and not a major city.
"S" mint coins were distributed in the west were money was SPENT and not saved.
The east coast, with established and prosperous collectors, could easily save a handful of the new coins. Not so down south or out west.
Attached is out latest survival estimates expressed in rarity factors. Hope it helps you a bit.

Not quite that bad but I am going to have to go through all of the uncirculated ones I had been setting aside and the not so nice NIFC and dump that as I am running out room and freeing up some cash would be a good thing.

Just got it back from ANACS after their insider get 2 coins graded for free special.

I was hoping the scratch on the obverse would pass but I don't see where they got cleaned from.

I haven't rolled searched in a while but think I might have to. The bank I can get halves from never has anything good in their rolls.

I am wondering since the coin was graded as "cleaned" if this coin was in somebody's collection and dumped into circulation by someone not knowledgeable.
