Great Job Nate, I got my 11 yr old grandson into collecting about a yr ago and the kid is very amazing. Allready has about 15 lbs of all sorts of coins medals, tokens etc. Got him hooked. I gave him my starter lincoln set for his b-day just missing the keys. He even traded me his Canadian nickles for my set of GeorgeV

Thanks guys! Nice to have someone to talk to about coins with. Up til now it just been lil ol me. Oh you guys will like this... We were on break so we ran off to the gas station to make a coffee. We went up and paid for them and when he got his change back...he started looking at the dates almost instantly. I almost had a tear.... they grow up so fast. :-)

Really nice story. Its strange sometimes with all the talk about how much things are worth we forget to have fun from collecting something.
Its always good to see a spark in someone when you get them started.

So I took my buddy to the bank today and we did a bit of CRH today to start filling up his albums. He's a different bank than me so everything is still Civil LOL. It was his first time. Picked up 10 rolls of nickels, dime and quarters. The little crap landed a 68 silver dime and 62 silver dime. 2 in 10 rolls Is pretty good I say, I average about 2 - 4 per box.

I believe there are a lot of potential collectors that pass in and out of our circle each day. We often get too caught up in our own hunt and miss opportunities to introduce, maybe not coin collecting at first, but a coin that we can tell a story about and spark that interest. Your experience is a good example of the "soft sell".

I enjoyed reading your story. I can remember sitting with my grand kids showing them neat things about change. I have four of them with their own collections now. Nice that you found someone to share your passion.  |
