Without better pics it looks like a normal dug up coin.

I know, I don't have my loupe with me right now. I will tomorrow, if I'm lucky later today, but certainly tommorow. It has a really distinct silver color on the reverse, and the obverse has minor copper color.

But there is the possibility that it was spray painted with metallic silver paint, but I'm sure its not, at least I hope not.

It looks like a normal copper-plated cent with minor environmental damage, nothing at all like an unplated Zincoln.

Well now that's a horse of a different color ! I'm not sure if being in the ground changes the color of a zincoln. Maybe Coop will look in.

Looks like copper plating is still there.

Some is but a lot isn't, I'm not sure if the ground stripped it of the coating or if it is an error.

The fact that this is a metal detector find would lend credibility to the opinion that this coin is environmentally damaged and not an error.

If you compare the OP pic with a pic of a known unplated zincoln your questions will be answered.

Well, I don't know. It was certainly environmental, so I guess it was put in a penny roll or something.
