do not miss the Belhaven Ale.

I think I remember you and Vermontesium enjoying that while I was downing some Fullers. Great pub with a great atmosphere. It helped we were all hanging out together too!

Great show folks. If you can make it, do it. Lots of dealers. All hotels are actually a reasonable price as well, and there are a lot of them. Hope to see a lot of you there.

Well I may still be at the show but my funds just got cut... probably by quite a bit. Looks like I am moving from south Al to south Fl. Like real south Fl. I just accepted a transfer to the Islamorada. I will be closer to the FUN show but funds will be diminished. Still excited about living in the keys.

The educational seminar list has been posted on FUN's site... Looks to be a great line up with a couple I will definitely be attending.

This show has coins and Notes from everywhere. If it's Money it's there.

BTW -4 and a "Wind chill of -39" I start my drive down in about an hour.

NO the cold whether is not tied to my bumper and I am not dragging it with me! . It's already there! So much for a warm up

Can anyone help me with a few answers?
Is parking free?
What time do I need to be there to get in quickly without early bird?
Will there be any ccf medals at the show (I didn't order one originally and have regretted it)?
Is there a concession stand inside?
Thanks

There is a fee for parking at the convention center.

The doors open to the public at 10am. You can get there a few minutes beforehand, pick up a name tag, and then join the crowd rushing the door.

There is a cafeteria.
Rest in Peace

Another thing to remember about FUN is that dealers work the coin show circuit on a national basis versus a regional one almost always will do FUN. FUN along with Baltimore is so important that some national circuit dealers will work both of those and skip either the ANA National or Long Beach. The great thing about FUN is that it grows and grows every year pretty much. Once in while it does have a down year but usually that's cause weakness in the entire coin market pulls it under. Long Beach is going in the opposite direction and the location from a source on that side of country I know leaves much to be desired. The area in Florida for FUN is a nice vacation spot that people love wear as Long Beach not so much.

Many years ago I faithfully attended dozens (hundreds?) of shows, including FUN and ANA as well as local and regional.

Several factors combined caused the end of this practice including but not limited to: the difficulties encountered in travelling with (or without) valuables since the advent of TSA ; the high cost of travel, accommodations, rental cars, etc.; advancing age and medical issues (existing conditions and new ones acquired from travel/show crowds).

The ongoing development of the hopelessly more convenient internet where very little price haggling occurs and is never based upon personal appearance or perceived lack (or abundance) of knowledge is the rule. Poor lighting, hasty decisions, physical discomfort and a lack of privacy in transactions are also negated by online dealings.

Many of the larger cities are increasingly dangerous urban quagmires and/or overly crowded due to other unrelated attractions such as theme parks, etc.

I've grown to dislike face-to-face dealings with dealers for a number of reasons and many if not most of my trusted and favored merchants have passed away or retired.

My residential state of Ohio has killed the once thriving coin show / coin shop business by the re-imposition of sales tax on all purchases at levels ranging from 6.5 to 8.75 percent, an immediate loss of value which may take years to recover. I'm not anxious to donate every 12th coin to the state whose Bureau of Workers Compensation fomented a major scandal involving millions of dollars worth of rare coins purchased with tax money which was levied against employers ostensibly to aid job-injured workers.

I apologize if these statements appear to be sour grapes but emotions play very little part in my reasoning and I perceive myself a victim of changing times.
